Two games.

That is all that separates the defending PBR Teams Champion Carolina Cowboys from the top of the league as they return home to Greensboro, North Carolina, for Cowboy Days presented by Patriot Mobile.

And at this point in the season, two games can disappear in a hurry.

Carolina enters Stop No. 8 ranked No. 3 in the PBR Team Series standings⁠ at 12-8, trailing only the Missouri Thunder and Nashville Stampede, who are tied at 14-6. Missouri owns the No. 1 position on the standings tiebreaker with 4,247.05 total team points to Nashville’s 4,154.05.

That makes three days inside First Horizon Coliseum much more than a homecoming for the Cowboys.

It is an opportunity.

Carolina’s three-game homestand begins against the No. 8 Oklahoma Wildcatters on Friday, continues against the No. 2 Nashville Stampede on Saturday and concludes against the No. 6 Arizona Ridge Riders on Sunday.

Three games on home dirt. Three chances to change the standings.

And one of those games comes directly against a team Carolina is trying to catch.

The defending champions are home

Carolina returns to Greensboro for the first time as the defending PBR Teams Champion after capturing the franchise’s first title in 2025.

Twenty games into the 2026 season, the Cowboys are 12-8 with 34 qualified rides in 100 outs.

That puts Carolina two games behind Missouri and Nashville — but only one game ahead of Austin and Texas, which are both 11-9.

In other words, Carolina can look forward. But it cannot afford to stop looking behind.

Friday begins against Oklahoma, which enters Greensboro No. 8 at 8-12.

Then comes Saturday. And that is where Cowboy Days could become very interesting.

Carolina meets Nashville, one of the two teams beginning Cowboy Days exactly two games ahead of the Cowboys.

A Carolina win would count in the Cowboys’ column while handing a loss directly to one of the teams they are chasing.

Sunday brings No. 6 Arizona, currently 10-10, to close the homestand.

Oklahoma, Nashville, and Arizona: if Carolina wants to make a move toward the top of the PBR Team Series standings, it gets three opportunities to do it in front of its own crowd.

2.55 points — one game, two bulls and a record on the line

Carolina’s championship chase may be the main event in Greensboro, but Friday night brings another race to First Horizon Coliseum that has become almost impossible to separate.

Jose Vitor Leme leads the PBR Teams MVP standings⁠ with 1,504.10 aggregate points.

Paulo Eduardo Rossetto is second at 1,501.55.

The difference is 2.55 points.

Both men are 17-for-20, and both are riding at 85%.

And Friday night, their teams meet head-to-head.

No. 1 Missouri takes on No. 4 Austin in Game 3, putting the two men at the top of the MVP standings on opposite sides of the same game.

Rossetto is scheduled to open for Missouri against UB Smooth.

Leme is matched with White Out, the Blake Sharp/Wyloh Ranch bovine athlete currently carrying a 43.15 World Champion Bull average and a 50% buckoff rate through six outs.

But there is more at stake than the 2.55 points separating them.

Rossetto enters Greensboro with 13 consecutive qualified rides, matching the PBR Team Series record Leme reached in Anaheim.

If Rossetto covers UB Smooth Friday night, the record becomes his alone at 14 straight.

Leme extended his record to 13 consecutive rides Friday in Anaheim before Chewy ended the streak at 4.23 seconds Saturday.

Rossetto kept coming.

He covered The HONDO for 90.05 points Saturday to reach 12 straight, then rode Me More Cowboy for 87.70 Sunday to make it 13 and pull even with Leme in the PBR Team Series record book.

At the same time, Rossetto nearly erased Leme’s MVP advantage.

Leme arrived in Anaheim leading by 95.80 points.

He arrives in Greensboro leading by 2.55.

Now put all of it into one game.

Rossetto vs. UB Smooth.

Leme vs. White Out.

Missouri vs. Austin.

The top two riders in the MVP race – a 2.55-point difference.

And Rossetto potentially eight seconds away from standing alone with the longest consecutive qualified-ride streak in PBR Team Series history.

For Carolina, there is another reason to pay close attention.

Missouri is one of the two teams the Cowboys are chasing for first place, while Austin begins Cowboy Days only one game behind Carolina.

Before the Cowboys ever climb into the bucking chutes Friday night, one game could affect the race above them, the race behind them, the MVP standings and the PBR Team Series record book.

That is worth watching.

Carolina’s job is simple: win.

Everything surrounding the Cowboys is considerably more complicated.

Missouri and Nashville enter Cowboy Days tied at 14-6.

Carolina is 12-8.

Austin and Texas are 11-9.

Arizona is 10-10.

Oklahoma is 8-12.

An Austin victory over Missouri, paired with a Carolina win over Oklahoma, would move the Cowboys within one game of the Thunder.

Nashville faces No. 5 Texas in Friday’s Game 4, giving Carolina another result to watch before its own game begins.

A single weekend can compress the top of those standings or begin pulling it apart.

And Carolina does not have to depend entirely on somebody else to help.

Saturday’s game against Nashville gives the Cowboys something every team chasing a leader eventually wants:

A chance to do something about it themselves.
