Biography

Silvano “Silvaninho” Alves is the embodiment of quiet greatness — a three-time PBR World Champion (2011, 2012, 2014), the first rider ever to win back-to-back titles, and one of only three in history to hoist three gold buckles. Born in Pilar do Sul, São Paulo, Brazil, Alves rose from humble roots to global legend, not through flash or bravado, but through discipline, humility, and an unwavering belief in hard work and faith.

When he first arrived in the United States in 2010, few knew his name. By the end of that year, he was the PBR Rookie of the Year, and soon after, he began a run of dominance defined not by wild rides, but by near-perfect consistency. He became one of just four riders ever to record more than 500 qualified rides, earning over $6.7 million and 13 consecutive World Finals appearances along the way. His style was methodical, his demeanor calm — a stark contrast to the chaos of the arena.

To fans, he was the silent assassin who could outlast anyone. To his peers, he was the rock — the man who led by example, spoke little, and carried himself with quiet conviction. Younger Brazilian riders, from Kaique Pacheco to João Ricardo Vieira, still speak of him with reverence, often calling him a mentor, a brother, and the standard to which they hold themselves. His ranch in Decatur, Texas, became a home away from home for countless riders chasing the same dream, where Alves opened his doors, shared his faith, and led with humility.

In 2022, Alves added another chapter to his storied career, helping the Nashville Stampede capture the inaugural PBR Teams Championship — an achievement he often says means just as much as his individual titles. Two years later, inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, he made his final ride, closing a 14-year career with the same poise and perspective that defined him from the start.

Now retired, Alves continues his legacy from the other side of the chutes as a coach and mentor for the Stampede. Still soft-spoken, still humble, he carries the same respect he once earned on the dirt — the kind that’s not demanded, but inspired. In a sport built on grit and glory, Silvano Alves reminds the world that true strength and dominance doesn’t need to shout — it simply speaks for itself.
